The original 2018 tracker. Still works after 7 years.
SKYTAG I is the tracker that started our SKYTAG line in 2018. After 7 years on the market, it's still our most-returned-for-repair tracker — which is a good thing. Users keep them.
Not flashy. No precision finding. No UWB. Just rock-solid Apple Find My integration. Sometimes work for what you need.
We still get returns from 2018 units. They come back for battery replacements, not because the unit failed.
Real scenarios from real users.
Mapping the annoyances to the engineering.
| The problem | SKYTAG I solution |
|---|---|
| Trackers die at the worst moment. | Replaceable CR2032 lasts 1 year. Swap in 5 seconds. |
| I drop things in the toilet. | IP67 rated. Submersible to 1m. |
| Subscription fees add up. | No subscription. Apple Find My is free. |
| Can't find my phone? Wrong direction. | Press SKYTAG I once to ping phone — even on silent. |
| Tracked item shows offline. | Apple's network uses any nearby iPhone. |
| Cheap trackers stop working after 3 months. | Returns from 2018 units still coming in. |
SKYTAG I attached, in use, and verified.
I designed SKYTAG I back when Bluetooth trackers were still a novelty. Apple's Find My network wasn't even open to third parties yet — we had to negotiate our way in.
Seven years later, it's still on sale. Still being repaired (rarely). Still being returned to us by customers who bought a second one for someone else.
It's not the flashiest tracker we make. That's the point. Sometimes the best product is the one that just works, year after year, without you thinking about it.
